Good morning all and welcome to another dose of Monday motivation. I hope you’ve all had a great week and a fun weekend? We’ve had a busy one with Phoebe’s 7th birthday celebrations taking centre stage! I find it very hard to believe that my baby is 7 years old already! I remember so clearly the day I found out I was expecting her and those 9…very nearly 10 long months waiting for her to arrive. It definitely makes me feel old, my little ones are definitely not so little any more! I chose this eventful week to start something I’ve been working towards for a little while, recording our weekly vlogs. I am ever so slightly terrified but hey, nothing good ever came from just sitting about waiting for things to happen!
I’ve made a few videos over the past year, if you’re not already subscribed to my channel then go over and check it out – you never know you might like it! It hasn’t got easier, I still cringe when I edit them and have to listen to myself but I do really enjoy making them. The question is…why put myself out there? To be honest I don’t really know, other than that I enjoy the process and love the fact that I am going to be keeping a log of family memories to look back on. I watch lots of family vlogs and I am quite envious of the fact that they capture their daily lives and at any given moment they can go back and watch back and relive their memories. And it’s not just the special days that we all tend to photograph or video anyway, it’s the normal every day routines, the ones that easily get forgotten that I am keen to capture.
Since starting this blogging journey I have loved, more than anything, learning and teaching myself so many amazing new skills and video editing is one of them. I still have loads to learn but god bless Google…how did we ever cope without it! Sometimes, in order to achieve the things we want in life we have to just put ourselves out there and go for it. I often sit here of an evening and think how much easier it would be to put the laptop down and just watch the tv or have some fun with the family. But nothing worth doing is ever easy is it? I’ve never been one to shy away from things that are a challenge, fear is my friend! So this is just another string to add to my bow, another way of getting to my goals in life.
I would love my videos to be true family vlogs but I can’t always expect everyone to want to take part, especially when this is just my dream. At the moment Archie’s not too keen, 13 is a difficult age to have your life exposed on the internet and I completely understand why he feels like that, even though it’s disappointing for me. He’s happy enough to appear occasionally but right now doesn’t really want to feature any more than that. Phoebe on the other hand is happy to be the star of the show and I can’t see that changing any time soon (definitely takes after her mother!). Andrew’s happy enough to appear too although I don’t think he’ll ever be too keen to take centre stage! He’s always happy to support me and enjoys watching the videos back. He gets it.
So that’s where we are. I would love to make these vlogs a weekly thing. I have no idea how anyone vlogs daily, that’s a serious commitment! We’ll see how we go for now and even if nobody else other than us watches them then that’s fine, at least they’ll be there for us to look back on and remember all the daft things we got up to! At the end of the day, life is meant to be experienced and I’m all for trying new things, doing things I’ve never done and I definitely won’t be leaving this world with any regrets!
Here it is…give it a watch and you can cringe along with me!
Until next time!
